Celebrating Artistic Potential: The Tuscarawas County Art Guild Scholarship
The Tuscarawas County Art Guild takes pride in supporting the next generation of artists through its annual Art Scholarship. This initiative began in 2001, thanks to a generous donation from Delores Peters. The first scholarship was awarded to Vivian Mosley, a dedicated mother who commuted to Pittsburgh to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She graduated with honors in 2003 and remains an active member of the Art Guild, giving back to the community that once supported her dreams.
In 2006, a significant contribution from the Marlite Company enabled the Guild to award two scholarships. Recipients Alexis Victor and Logan Phillips both graduated in 2012—Alexis with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and Logan with dual degrees in Arts and Media Communication from Asbury College in Kentucky.
Since its inception, the Art Guild has awarded fourteen scholarships to talented Tuscarawas County high school seniors and college students pursuing careers in the arts. Past recipients are shown below.
These talented individuals have gone on to explore diverse fields such as architecture, graphic design, digital arts, painting, interior design, art education, motion picture production, photo illustration, applied communications, and even tattoo art.
Looking ahead, the Tuscarawas County Art Guild is excited to present its 21st Art Scholarship to another deserving student in the summer of 2024. The scholarship is made possible through the generosity of private and corporate donors. If you'd like to contribute, please contact Karen Thornton at 330-327-8185.
